Highest daily percentage of positive cases recorded in Sindh: CM Murad

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah reports 846 new cases, 13 deaths

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday reported 846 new novel coronavirus cases and 13 more deaths in the province.

He said the number of total positive results from the tests conducted amounts to 24 per cent, which is the highest percentage of positive cases in a single day till now.

The chief minister added that he was reluctant to share the new information with the people of Sindh on the first day of Eidul Fitr but decided to update everyone about the situation.

Apprising the media, he also said that a total of 157,449 samples have been tested so far and the provincial tally stands at 22,491.

"The number of positive cases detected so far constitutes 14 per cent  of the total tests," he added.

Pakistan's death toll jumped to 367, after Sindh reported 13 new deaths in the last 24 hours, while 156 patients are in critical condition - 13 of which have been placed on ventilators.



Around 13,094 or 88.5 per cent of patients were placed in home isolation, 791 or 5.5 per cent of patients in isolation centres and 880 0r 6 per cent of patients in different hospitals, CM Murad added.

In the last 24 hours, 146 patients have been cured and discharged, adding that the number of recovered patients has jumped to 7,359.

"Our recovery ratio stands at 33 per cent which needs to be improved further," he noted.

"Karachi is a densely populated city and the threat of local transmission looms large here," Murad said, while noting that 703 of the 846 new cases emerged from Karachi.

He said District East has 178 new cases, South 148, Central 114, West 111, Korangi 78 and Malir 74.

CM Murad added that Larkana has 24 cases, Ghotki reported 12, Tando Allahyar 10, Hyderabad nine, Sanghar eight, Kambar-Shahdadkot seven, Jacobabad seven, Thatta four, two each in Badin and Jamshoro and one each in Mirpurkhas and Tando Mohammad Khan.
