‘Ulema must play vital role in preventing virus spread on Eid’

Commissioner calls for following SOPs at worship places

FAISALABAD: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali appealed the ulema and religious scholars to play their dynamic role in taking precautionary measures against coronavirus on Eid ul Fitr.

Chairing a meeting of the District Peace Committee on Friday, he appreciated the cooperation of religious scholars and thanked them for their full support in Ramazan.

He said that people should also maintain social distancing from each other. He added that people should come to Eid Gah after following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and must wear face masks so that they could be protected from the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmad visited District Jail and distributed Eid gifts among the prisoners.

Prisons DIG Saeedullah Gondal, CPO Captain Sohail Chaudhry, Finance Additional Deputy Commissioner Asma Ejaz Cheema, Superintendent Jail Ali Akbar Gujjar and other jail officials were also present on the occasion.

The provincial minister visited various barracks including women's barracks and distributed gifts and gave them Eid greetings.

He said that if one wants to lead a successful life, they must be patient.

“The path of goodness and benevolence should be adopted,” he remarked.

He also expressed his compassion for the juveniles. On this occasion, a series of educational and remedial programmes were also underway.
