ABBOTTABAD: A meeting of the Abbottabad district administration on Thursday decided to allow Eid prayers in mosques, apart from those at the main Eidgah and other open grounds to avoid overcrowding.

Deputy Commissioner Mughis Sanaullah chaired a meeting to discuss measures about security and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during Eidul Fitr.

It was decided that Eid prayers will be offered in mosques apart from the Eidgah to overcome the overcrowding issue and to conveniently observe social distancing.

The meeting also decided to restrict the entry of tourists to Abbottabad. For this purpose, police, TMA staff and workers of Rescue 1122 will be deputed at checkpoints at Chamba Pul, Muslimabad, Qalandarabad, Tanan, Thandayani Chowk, Murree Road, Harno Pul and Bariyan.

Only permanent residents of Galiyat will be allowed beyond the Kali Matti area of Harno only after showing their CNICs.
