Hearing of NAB’s reference against Dar put off until June 17

Proceedings set for another date due to reason that record of case lies with IHC

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of assets beyond means reference against former finance minister Ishaq Dar without further proceedings until June 17.

The proceedings were set for another date due to the reason that the record of the case was with the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Accountability Court-I Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the case which had been filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The court noted that the IHC had sought the case record in a petition of Tabbasam Ishaq – wife of Ishaq Dar – challenging the confiscation of her house.



The judge remarked that the proceedings would be held once the case record was received from the IHC and adjourned the hearing until June 17.

Following the filing of the reference against Dar in the accountability court in September 2018, NAB had seized all of his moveable and immoveable assets, including a house in Gulberg III, Lahore; three plots in Al Falah Housing Society, Lahore; six acres of land in Islamabad; a two-kanal plot in Parliamentarians Enclave, Islamabad; a plot in the Senate Cooperative Housing Society, Islamabad; a plot measuring two kanals and another of nine marlas in Islamabad and six vehicles.

The bureau said that Dar had acquired in his name and/or in the names of his dependents’ assets worth Rs831.7 million, which was disproportionate to his known sources of income.
