The Rawalpindi police have formulated a security plan in which over 3,800 security personnel will be deployed in the city, particularly to guard Eid congregational prayers and maintaining the overall security situation in the city.
The security condition of the garrison city will be monitored by more than 400 closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) while a monitoring room has been established in the City Police Officer (CPO) office. The Operations-SSP will oversee all security operations in the city.
Police officials said if the government decides to allow Eid congregational prayers in grounds and open spaces, the security plan will require only minor changes.
More than 3,800 security personnel will be stationed at 873 mosques, 50 imambargahs, and 63 open spaces. Security would be performed by the Elite Commandos of police, Dolphin Force, Muhafiz Squad, sharpshooters, and policewomen. Officials said all open spaces where congregational prayers will be held will be sealed off with barbed wires, while there will only be a single entry and exit point for entering the makeshift worship sites.
