KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced that it will increase gas supply to 200 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) to Karachi Electric Supply Company in Ramazan, which is starting from Tuesday. The announcement, which came after an agreement with KESC in a meeting at Governor House recently, will provide some relief from power outages to the residents of Karachi during Ramazan. In a statement, SSGC said it is currently supplying 180 mmcfd to KESC. A few days ago, SSGC had sharply curtailed supplies to 120 mmcfd, saying the power utility had failed to clear dues which had swelled to Rs28 billion. But later on the intervention of petroleum minister, supplies were increased.
