‘Punjab govt to enhance virus testing capacity’

Punjab govt monitoring situation as lockdown eased

LAHORE: The provincial government is working on enhancing the testing capacity of coronavirus cases in the province besides protecting the public from the disease, Punjab Government Spokesperson Musarrat Jamshed Cheema said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

She said that the government and the departments concerned were continuously observing the situation after relaxation in lockdown as well as permission of doing business and realised their responsibilities.

She added that traders and business community had promised complete implementation of the standard operating procedures (SOP) for protection from the virus, but trade organisations had failed to implement the SOPs, which was needed in the current situation and this trend could be dangerous in the near future.

She stated that the efforts of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to protect its leadership would never succeed, adding that a questionnaire prepared by PM’s Special Assistant Shehzad Akbar for Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif was simple, so he should go to the National Accountability Bureau and answer the questions if he wanted relief.
