Eight more Covid-19 cases emerge in Attock
Focal Person says most cases in the district are of local transmission
ATTOCK: At least 69 people have so far contracted the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Attock while three associated deaths have been reported.
This was stated by the Attock District Focal Person for Covid-19 Dr Asif Niazi on Tuesday, adding that eight new cases were reported in the district in the past 24 hours.
According to data updated and shared by the Covid-19 Cell in the District Health Authority (DHA), three police officers were among those who tested positive for the virus.
Other cases involved two close contacts of patients who had already tested positive in Fateh Jang. Moreover, two known tuberculosis patients were also tested positive for Covid-19.
One case was cross-notified from Islamabad.
Dr Niazi said that so far, some 4,666 people have been tested for Covid-19 in the district. He added that the number of suspected patients screened has reached 1,617, of which 1,373 have tested negative and the results of 175 people are awaited. Moreover, 35 people have recovered so far.
Dr Niazi added that most Covid-19 cases reported now in the district are of local transmission.
On quarantine centres, he said that the district administration has set up a 100-bed quarantine centre in the Jand Tehsil Danish School.
