Sectarian violence: Protests surface across Quetta

QUETTA: A shutterdown strike was observed in the city on Sunday to protest against Saturday’s sectarian attack which killed 11 people.

The strike was called by the Hazara Democratic Party and backed by Aithade Tajeeran-e-Balochistan.

Most business and shopping centres remained closed in Mezan Chowk, Brewery Road, Alamdar Road, Marri Abad, Hazarat Town, Jinnah Road and adjoining areas.

The members of the Hazara Democratic Party burnt tyres and forced shopkeepers to shut their businesses. Police arrested around dozen people who were forcing shopkeepers to close their shops. A police official said that a high level meeting was held to review the law and order situation across the province.

Unfortunate Hazaras are not being targeted dute to their ethnicity or race but they are beng targeted due to their sect, i.e. being Sha. The recent bloodshed of Hazras is a vicious act committed by humans worse than animals.

Dear Sheikh, most of Hazaras living in Quetta are there before Pakistan was born. For them it is not only a difficult process to return back to Afghanistan but looks nearly impossible. But it is certainly pity sometimes hearing from ppl to leave back to Afghanistan. I wounder why Allah has remove his blessings from Quetta city and Pakitan, I think it might be because of our HATE for each other......where we can see that after living more then a century together we are onto to oppress a weak fellow and force them leave.....I think we forgot that Allah(if we believe) did not put any border for this land and neither gave us the authority.
