PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Minister for Housing Dr Amjad Ali tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday.

The minister said he was experiencing symptoms of the virus and after his test result came back positive, he self-quarantined at home.

“Pray for the country,” the minister said.

Earlier today, K-P Senator Mirza Afridi tested positive for the coronavirus for a second time.

His test result came back positive on April 27. The senator took another test 10 days later and the result was the same.

He has placed himself in quarantine for the last 11 days.

Late last month, Special Assistant to K-P Chief Minister on Local Government and Rural Development Kamran Bangash tested positive for the coronavirus.

Bangash was the second provincial assembly member, who has been infected with the coronavirus. In March, K-P Assembly member and the ruling party leader Abdul Salam Afridi had tested positive for the coronavirus. He remained in isolation for over two weeks and fully recovered.

K-P CM Focal Person Furqan confirmed that Bangash tested positive for the virus and a medical team also took swab samples of his 11 family members.

The focal person had said the special assistant’s test was conducted at the Khyber Medical University and after the results came out positive, he was put in isolation.
