Judge tests positive for Covid-19 in Tank

Spokesperson said that no other judge or staff in the Tank judiciary has been found infected with the pandemic virus

PESHAWAR: A district and sessions judge has quarantined himself after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) on Monday.

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) spokesperson said that the Tank district and sessions judge had been infected with virus. He already has gone under self-isolation after he felt symptoms of the virus.

The spokesperson added that no other judge or staff in the Tank judiciary has been found infected with the pandemic virus so far. He said that the district courts were closed until May 15 and only the hearing of cases deemed as of emergency nature was being conducted.

Meanwhile, the PHC ordered to acquit a suspect charged with killing of his teacher allegedly over a love affair. Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim Khan heard the bail plea filed by the suspect through Shabbir Hussain on Monday.
