Malik’s remarks: Sharifs defend Tableeghi Jamaat
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza have defended the Tableeghi Jamaat, after Interior Minister Rehman Malik called it a breeding ground of extremism.
In a press statement, Shahbaz called Malik’s remarks irresponsible and urged the federal government to refrain from making such statements. He also dismissed Malik’s explanation of the statement.
Hamza, a member of the National Assembly, also took strong exception to Malik’s remarks.
“The recent wave of terrorism has unnerved some myopic politicians who, instead of ascertaining and addressing the real causes of terrorism, are trying to defame the Tableeghi Jamaat and thereby promoting an anti-Islam agenda of imperialist forces,” Hamza said, in a press statement.
The Raiwind Markaz, he said, is a completely non-political and non-militant group which creates an atmosphere of mutual harmony and co-existence between all segments of society and religious groups.

Im quite disheartened with the Tanhligi Jamaat but one thing im sure of is that they're completely apolitical and violence is abhorred. having said that I have learnt from some friends that recruiters do tend to attach themselves with the Jamaat in the hope of finding suitable candidates for recruitment. Since membeership is quite informal and not documented keeping track would be quite impossible.
@Jameel: Dear Brother, please note othar then Jamat e Islami no party has taken part in any election,all these are non political parties. i suggest you to search or follow any international reliable channel to know about the strength of DAWAT E ISLAMI,TAbLIGI JAMAT, you know how many persons are attending annual gathering, more than hundred thousands.

There is a point in Rehman Malik's statement. If all terrorists rounded up have been found to be Raiwand visitors, what does that indicate. If the tableeghi Jamaat preached non violence effectively, these people would not choose to be terrorists. The Tablighi jamaat never preaches anything beyond saying prayers. Talking about character building, honesty, truthfulness, tolerance towards others faiths, respect for humanity in general, etc are not part of their syllabus. Millions of people are
