Man held for allegedly killing friend

The accused and victim quarrelled over petty amount of Rs6,000

LAHORE: Sanda Investigations police claimed to have arrested, on Saturday, a man named Zahid Mahmood who killed his friend Abbas Ali alias Jagnu over a monetary dispute.

According to police, Zahid, a close friend of Abbas, confessed to killing his friend. Abbas had rented a house separately from his wife and children where he and Zahid would reportedly consumed illicit substances.

The accused Zahid had lent Rs6,000 to Abbas. Whenever Zahid would ask Abbas to return his money, Abbas would make excuses in an attempt to delay repaying loans. On the day of the incident, Zahid and Abbas quarreled over the monetary issue and exchanged harsh words.

In a fit of rage, Zahid killed Abbas by cutting his throat and wrist with a sharp cutter and fled from the crime scene. SSP Investigation Zeeshan Asghar announced cash rewards and certificates of appreciation for the police team for tracing the blind murder and arresting the accused.
