An accountability court has sought the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) progress report about Narowal Sports City case in which PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal is a key accused.

During hearing of the case on Thursday, Islamabad Accountability Court-I judge Muhammad Bashir asked the top graft buster as to what was the status of NAB reference against the alleged graft.

NAB Prosecutor Waseem Sajjad informed the court that the accountability watchdog has completed its inquiry and is in the process of preparing a reference against Iqbal. The court directed NAB to submit a progress report about Narowal Sports City case before adjourning hearing of the case till June 8.

Ahsan Iqbal did not appear in the court on Thursday in view of coronavirus pandemic.

The PML-N leader was arrested in December last year over alleged irregularities in a sports complex constructed in his hometown of Narowal. Iqbal was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on February 25
