Ramazan prices: Rickshaw union appeals for LPG price reduction

Union says that if prices were not reduced they would take to the streets.

Pasban Rickshaw Union has appealed to the government to reduce the prices for liquid petroleum gas (LPG) from Rs130 to Rs105 per kilogram to provide relief during Ramazan.


In a meeting of the rickshaw union chaired by Sufi Mohammad Siddiq, the participants also demanded that the government reduce the CNG closure schedule from 2 and a half days to one day to ensure better transport facilities for people during Ramazan.

Sufi Mohammad Siddiq commended the government on initiative of the conversion of the two-stroke rickshaw into a four stroke and providing giving relief in payment of fines on route permits from 2005 to 2011.

He expressed the hope that steps would be taken to provide subsidy to rickshaw owners in the coming year.  Abdul Majeed, Rana Shafiq, Zahoor Ahmad Bhutta, Rauf Qureshiand other office bearers were present during the meeting.

The union said that if prices were not reduced they would take to the streets.
