Clarifies his comments were not meant to target any specific gender

Maulana Tariq Jamil took to Twitter on Tuesday to 'clarify' remarks he had made during the Prime Minister's Telethon on April 23, and apologise to those "inadvertently hurt".

"My aim was to point out that we are all to blame for our current state. It was meant to be a general remark not targeting any specific men, women, persons or gender, but as a reminder to get closer to what Allah teaches us," tweeted the Maulana.

The cleric had come under scrutiny for his remarks on women and the media during the broadcast. On Friday he had apologised to the latter.

He insisted that he only meant to remind us of the spiritual and apologised to "anyone who may have been inadvertently hurt".
