ABBOTTABAD: At least 10 children and relatives of slain police officers were appointed as assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) in the Hazara division on Monday.

The heirs of slain police officials were handed appointment letters at a ceremony in Abbottabad on Monday. Hazara DIG Jamilur Rehman was also present on the occasion.

The newly recruited ASIs included seven from Mansehra and one each from Abbottabad, Batagram and Upper Kohistan districts.

DIG Rehman, while addressing the ceremony, lauded the sacrifices of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police over the past decade and a half.

He said that peace has been restored in the province due to the sacrifices of these cops.

The police chief said K-P police has rendered great sacrifices in the battle against terrorism and that their brave officials continue to fight terrorists.

Under the Police Shuhada Package, the family of a martyred police official is given cash, support for the education of children and medical facility.

Besides, a blood relative such as a son or brother fulfilling criteria for the post, are recruited as ASI.

The newly recruited police officials said that it was an honour for them to follow in the footsteps of the martyred police officials and that they will serve the country with bravery and dedication.
