Foreign Ministry clarifies travel curbs on Pakistan based diplomats
In a statement posted on their website, the Ministry said:
"In response to a question regarding travel curbs on US diplomats, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that no US-specific restrictions have been applied. However, there are general guidelines regarding travel of Pakistan-based diplomats, designed only to ensure their safety and security, which have existed for a long time.
Pakistan is fully mindful of its obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The Foreign Ministry is having a constructive engagement with the US Embassy in Islamabad in this regard."
Relations between Pakistan and US have deteriorated over the past months and a number of US diplomats, along with other foreign visitors have been turned back from places like Peshawar, having been deemed to dangerous for visitors.

Pakistan needs to abide by Vienna Convention.
The Govt is embarrassed after the Abbotabad raid, followed by PNS Mehran raid and now is venting out in undiplomatic ways to save face. These restrictions will backfire Pakistan.
It is a classic case of biting the hand that feeds it.

You track the people who might expose your terrorist connections rather than the terrorist? Your actions reinforce the Worldwide belief that your xenophobes and not interested in fighting terrorist. .. If other countries put similar restrictions on Pakistani diplomats you guys would be screaming that they were Islamophobes and racist.

You must be naive, we don't care about US aid anymore because US aid to Pakistan is nothing but a curse.
We cut off part of their military aid. The very next week they made substantial and unexpected peaceful diplomatic overtures to India. Perhaps that is a model for the future.
