Dr Javed to be nominated for civil award

CM aide says K-P govt will announce package for deceased ENT specialist’s family

PESHAWAR: The provincial government on Sunday decided to nominate ENT Specialist Dr Muhammad Javed for a civil award. Dr Javed worked at the Hayatabad Medical Complex and died of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) on April 25.

This was announced by the Adviser to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Ajmal Wazir on Sunday while briefing the media at the Civil Secretariat.

Wazir extolled Dr Javed’s services to his patients and the country, stating that the ear, nose and throat specialist had sacrificed his life in the line of duty.   The adviser further said that the sacrifices made by healthcare workers, including doctors and other medical staff, the nation will soon overcome the pandemic.

The adviser paid rich tributes to late Dr Javed’s commendable services for coronavirus patients. “The slain doctor sacrificed his life to save the lives of others,” he added.

Apart from a nomination for a civil award, Wazir said that the provincial government will soon announce a special financial package for Dr Javed’s family.

The government will extend all kinds of support to the medical staff who has been risking their lives to save the lives of other people, Wazir said, urging the public to play their part in helping the government curb the virus.

Dr Javed had spent over a week on a ventilator after he tested positive for Covid-19.
