Five doctors infected with coronavirus in Sindh's Shikarpur

HYDERABAD: Five doctors and a municipal committee chairman in Shikarpur district have tested positive for coronavirus.

District focal person Dr Salahuddin Shaikh told the media that all the infected individuals had been asked to isolate themselves at their homes, while those who have come in contact with them were tested as well.

Meanwhile, the body of a woman who died of coronavirus was handed over to her family by a government hospital in Karachi. The woman, who was the wife of a local government representative, had died on April 23 and she was laid to rest in Matiari on Friday.

Her report had revealed on April 21 that she had recovered from the virus, with the cause of death mentioned as kidney failure on the death certificate. However, she once again tested positive for coronavirus after her demise.

Authorities sealed the areas where she and the woman who performed her last rights and ablution resided. The sealed areas include Mohajir Chowk, Tooba Colony, and Jatt Road.

The health teams took nasopharyngeal swabs of 15 members of the deceased's family as well of the woman who performed her ablution and her family members, according to focal person Dr Zaheeruddin Memon.

Matiari deputy commissioner confirmed that two members of the deceased's family had also tested positive on Saturday evening.

In Tando Adam taluka, Sanghar district, the Saati Para locality was sealed after six family members of an infected person tested positive. A total of 17 coronavirus cases have surfaced in Tando Adam.

Cop's family positive again

In Hyderabad, the 10 family members of a Central Investigation Agency official once again tested positive for the virus. The official himself had tested positive in the first report and negative in the second, raising questions about the tests.

A health official informed The Express Tribune that the family was tested again on the directives of the deputy commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro after the policeman's report from Aga Khan University Hospital appeared negative.
