KARACHI: A three-member inquiry committee has been formed by Sindh local government secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh to take action against those involved in illegal construction during the lockdown.

The committee is headed by housing and town planning special secretary Jamaluddin Jalalani and includes Sindh Building Control Authority's vigilance committee head Sarfaraz Hussain and its deputy director Nadeem Sarwar Shaikh. The committee will conduct an inquiry and submit a report to the secretary.

Speaking on the matter, Shaikh stated that all local government officials have been strictly warned of facing disciplinary action if they were found to be involved in any kind of illegal constructions.

"Sindh local government will deal with such elements strictly and FIRs have been registered against officials found guilty of the offence, who are now facing inquiries, in the past too" added Shaikh.

Shaikh further said that local government minister Nasir Hussain Shah and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have directed to carry out indiscriminate action against the elements involved in illegal construction anywhere in Sindh.
