LAHORE: Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has asked the department to not overlook small farmers during the wheat procurement process.

“Farmers will be paid for full weight of the wheat they bring in,” the minister assured the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad President Khalid Mehmood Khokhar during a meeting at his office on Tuesday.

During the consultation, Abdul Aleem Khan asserted that modern technology was vital to the agricultural sector for better crop production.

He mentioned that large scale farmers should come forward to support the government to bring about improvement in the food sector.

The senior minister said this year the government provided open ‘bardana’ (gunny bags) to farmers for wheat procurement.
