The film was originally slated for a June 25, 2021 release, and production had begun early this year. However, the studio suspended production on the film last month amid coronavirus concerns, reported The Wrap.
Featuring The Lighthouse star Robert Pattinson donning Batman's cape for the iconic role, the film is not the sole DC Comics release that has been affected - The Flash is now billed for a June 3, 2022 release which is a month earlier than planned.
Apart from Pattinson as the Batman - a casting that is much looked forward to - the cast also includes Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler. The Wrap also reported that Colin Farrell is in talks to star as The Penguin.
Reeves has earlier described his take on the comic-book classic as a "defining and very personal story about the Dark Knight," as opposed to an origin story. According to insiders, the film will explore Bruce Wayne’s second year as the Dark Knight detective.
