PA’s budget reduced by Rs310m

Punjab Assembly, staff donated Rs30 million for the chief minister’s fund

LAHORE: In view of the current economic situation due to coronavirus pandemic, Punjab Assembly’s annual budget has been reduced by Rs310 million.

The budget cut was revealed during a Punjab Assembly finance committee meeting held on Monday.

The committee meeting was presided over by the Speaker of Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and was attended by the Provincial Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashem Jawan Bakhat and Finance Committee members Rai Yawar Kamal Khan, Shujat Nawaz, Mian Tariq Abdullah, Kashif Mehmood, Mian Shafi Muhammad and Raees Nabeel Ahmad.

The provincial finance minister and secretary praised the spirit of patriotism behind the reduction of Punjab Assembly budget by the speaker.

On the occasion, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi appreciated the members of Punjab Assembly and the staff for donating Rs30 million for the chief minister’s fund for combating the novel coronavirus.

Later on, Punjab Assembly Secretary Mohammad Khan Bhatti presented the revised estimates for the financial year 2019-20 followed by the budget of Rs2.63 billion for the financial year 2020-21, which were unanimously approved by the finance committee.
