PBM, burn centre sign MoU to help needy

Agreement to benefit people of southern Punjab

MULTAN: The Pakistan Baitul Maal (PBM) and Pak Italian Modern Burn Centre inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to extend financial assistance for needy patients living in southern Punjab on Monday.

PBM Managing Director (MD) Aon Abbas Buppi and Pak Italian Modern Burn Centre Executive Director (ED) Dr Naheed Chaudhry signed the MoU.

The agreement will facilitate patients of acid burns, cut injuries and those requiring surgeries, having a monthly income of up to Rs17,000. An amount of Rs600,000 will be extended for the treatment of the patients after verification by the PBM.

The PBM managing director said the MoU was a gift for the people of southern Punjab a number of applications had been received from people with burns or injuries seeking treatment. He added that funds would be earmarked for the burn centre in the next fiscal year. “The PBM paid for the treatment of 2,150 patients over the last month.”

The managing director stated that the PBM had been working despite the lockdown for facilitating poor patients.

Acknowledging the services of the health facility, he further said that the burn centre was serving 11 districts of southern Punjab and he wanted to help patients of burn injury, cancer and diseases requiring plastic surgery and reconstruction.
