5 dacoits held, valuables, arms recovered

Stolen jewellery, wristwatches, mobile phones, valuables and weapons recovered from their possession

ISLAMABAD: The Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Islamabad Police has arrested five suspected dacoits and recovered stolen valuables and weapons from their possession, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.

The official said that Operations-DIG  Waqaruddin Syed had directed all zonal officers to crack down on criminals and accelerate their efforts to curb crime in the city, especially during the lockdown.

Subsequently, Investigation-SP Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer constituted a special team under the supervision of CIA DSP Hakim Khan and including SI Tariq Rauf, ASIs Fawad Khalid, Zulfiqar Ali, Aamir Hayat, Mohsin Ali, Irfanullah along with other officials. They managed to apprehend five suspects, including two proclaimed offenders.

The suspects were identified as Aslam - a resident of Okara, Ghulam Mustafa - a resident of Okara, Noman Naseem - a resident of Taramri in Islamabad, Muhammad Akram - a resident of Sargodha, and Imtiaz Khan - a resident of  Sector F-11/1.

Police officials said that they had recovered stolen jewellery, wristwatches, mobile phones, valuables and weapons from their possession. During preliminary investigations, they allegedly confessed to their involvement in burglaries in different areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Separate cases have been registered in the Shalimar, Industrial Area, Koral, and Karachi Company police stations against these suspects while further investigations are underway.
