QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Thursday while chairing a meeting over the spread of coronavirus, decided to test 5,000 citizens in Quetta.

The meeting expressed grave concern over the surge in Covid-19 cases in Balochistan, particularly local transmission of the virus. Hence, the provincial government announced to enhance testing in Quetta and Naseerabad Division where new cases were surfacing.

The CM said: “We would urge the National Disaster Management Authority to provide us two PCR machines in Quetta in order to double the testing capacity.” It is pertinent to note that Balochistan has witnessed a spike in Covid-19 cases as more than 100 cases emerged in the last 24 hours which includes a surge in locally transmitted cases.
