Dare I hope?

Syed Nadir El-edroos June 17, 2010

LONDON: This is with reference to Naveen Naqvi’s article “Dare I hope?” (June 17th). Protecting under age domestic workers is something that should have happened years ago. Although framing laws is not enough, the fact that a 10-year-old girl will have legal protection is one thing. But her rights to education as guaranteed in the 18th Amendment, is another. Children working on a full-time basis deserve more than a “pleasant working environment”. Providing for their families at a young age is burden enough, but to rob their childhood and deprive them off education is inexcusable.
