Celebrities including Mahira Khan, Mansha Pasha and Fatima Bhutto remembered Mashal Khan on his third death anniversary on Monday. The student activist was tortured to death over false blasphemy allegations.

Taking to social media, the Verna star shared a picture of Mashal with a heartwrenching message, "We failed you."

Mansha, on the other hand, wrote, "Mashal Khan's death reminds us of things that remain always true: That voices of reason are often met with loud and violent dissent. That some will justify violence by twisting ur words against you. And that you will be the one to live on, long after they are gone."

Renowned author Fatima Bhutto took to Instagram and shared a  picture of the slain activist, with the caption, "Shaheed Mashal Khan
For the brave and defiant are never forgotten."

The 23-year-old student of Mardan’s Abdul Wali Khan University was attacked by a large mob and was fatally wounded on the false pretext of sharing blasphemous content on social media. In 2018, court had convicted 31 people, sentencing one person to death, while acquitting 26 others.
