1,310 varsity students awarded federal scholarships

2,841 students at the varsity had applied for the scholarships, worth Rs40,000 per annum

HYDERABAD: As many as 1,310 students at the Sindh University (SU), Jamshoro, have been awarded need and merit based scholarships under the federal government's Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme, on Monday.

According to SU Student Financial Aid Office director Dr Fiza Quereshi, 2,841 students at the varsity had applied for the scholarships, worth Rs40,000 per annum.

Qureshi maintained that the university had established a rigorous, judicious and competitive framework to reach the most deserving candidates. She added that the selection committee comprised notable members of the Higher Education Commission, civil society, activists and SU deans.

Meanwhile, SU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat congratulated the students being awarded the scholarships, while thanking the committee members for their efforts. He further congratulated Qureshi and her team on completing the selection process efficiently and without bias.
