‘Minorities enjoy equal rights in Pakistan’

Christian community across the province attended the Easter prayers from homes

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine has extended Easter wishes to the entire community and said all the minorities in Pakistan are enjoying equal rights and the government has taken concrete measures for their welfare.

He said the government of Punjab has taken measures to effectively cope up with the dangers of coronavirus. He further said the people should strictly follow and implement the preventive measures being advised by the departments concerned to save themselves from coronavirus.

He said the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 and health emergency to ensure the safety of every citizen as it is fully committed to safeguarding the lives and property of the country’s minorities.

“The main reason for not being together for worship on the eve of Easter is to contain the spread of coronavirus because the virus spreads quickly from one person to another. Minimising social interaction can help avoid this,” he said.

The entire Christian community across the province attended the Easter prayers from their homes and prayed for the prosperity and protection of the people and the country.
