QUETTA: Former provincial chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch called for enhancing coronavirus tests in Balochistan to ascertain exact figures of patients and take effective decisions to prevent the deadly pandemic.

“Coronavirus cases are drastically increasing but the provincial government is concealing the number of affected patients. The government should enhance testing capacity in order to decide further measures to prevent the spread of the  virus,” said Malik in a statement issued on Friday.

Stressing on extensive testing to determine the exact situation of COVID-19 across the country, Malik said, “The extensive testing mechanism across the world, including the United States and Europe, reveals hundreds and thousands of affected patients in the countries.”

He also emphasised that the federal and provincial governments should learn from experience of China, Germany and South Korea to combat the contagion.
