286 beggars arrested over violation of lockdown orders

128 beggars have been released after receiving a warning

FAISALABAD: Police claimed to have arrested 230 men and 56 women beggars from Saddar and four other towns and lodged 164 cases against them.

Following the orders of IG Punjab, police raids have continued against the beggars amid the spread of coronavirus.

However, 128 beggars have been released after giving them a warning.  CPO Sohail Chowdhury stated that police in five towns took action and arrested 34 men and 18 women from the limits of Lyallpur Town while 13 male beggars have been arrested from Madina Town, seven from different areas of Juranwala and 15 beggars were arrested from Saddar.

A total of 128 beggars have been warned.  These beggars travel on various streets and roads. They are putting themselves in danger as well as other citizens.
