RAWALPINDI: Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, the Rawalpindi Development Authority has postponed the project of provision of free chickens to 1,000 families in the city under the PM’s poultry programme (Murghi Pal Project) till May after Eidul Fitr, RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza said.

All preparations for this project will be completed within a month time, he said. RDA was launching this project in collaboration with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), while the Department of Poultry Research Rawalpindi will supply a thousand set of poultry at subsidised rates to RDA.

The authority will distribute the chicken sets to citizens free of cost, RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza said. One set would include five hens, a cockerel and a cage too.

He said besides supplementing income, the project will help provide organic eggs and poultry.
