Private schools warned of action for not waiving 20% fee

KARACHI: Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh (DIRPIS) director-general Dr Mansoob Siddiqui has warned private schools of action in case they fail to follow government orders of giving at least 20 per cent concession in tuition fees for April and May as well as paying salaries to all teaching and non-teaching staff on time.

He said that action would be taken against non-compliant schools under the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Ordinance, 2001.

Earlier, DIRPIS, which is a subordinate of the Sindh education department, had issued a notification instructing private educational institutes to waive at least 20 per cent off the tuition fees for the months of April and May, stating that if any of the schools has already collected the fee for the said months, it is to refund the amount to parents. The notification also bound private schools to pay full salaries to all teaching and non-teaching staff.
