Financial support for underprivileged begins under Ehsaas Programme

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Financial support has been started for the needy people under the Ehsaas Programme in Dera Ghazi Khan district.

About 97,000 families of the district registered under the Benazir Income Support Programme will be given financial assistance of Rs12,000 each.

For this, 57 field camps have been established across the district. Revenue Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Samiullah Farooq visited the field camps with Superintendent of Police Investigation Hafizur Rehman.

Retailers who were not paying beneficiaries despite thumb impression verification in Model Town were caught red-handed and detained.

A case was registered and an investigation launched. The ADC said that 57 counters have been set up in various educational institutions and other government buildings in the district where the needy people are being paid Rs12,000 after thumbprint verification through more than 100,000 biometric machines of retailers.

Meanwhile, more than 140 pilgrims staying in quarantine centres have tested negative for coronavirus. The Chief Minister’s Health Adviser Muhammad Hanif Pitafi sent the pilgrims would return to their homes. Sources revealed that Pitafi visited the DG Khan Quarantine Centre and saw off the pilgrims who had tested negative and were returning to their homes.
