Indonesian court lets anti-Ahmadi mob perpetrators off 'lightly'
Dani bin Misra, a 17-year-old who smashed a victim's skull with a stone, received three months for manslaughter. While Idris bin Mahdani, who led the mob of more than 1,000 Muslims in the February attack, was convicted of illegal possession of a machete and received five months and 15 days in jail.
Twelve people stood for trial, but none faced murder charges in what human rights activists termed was a travesty of justice in the world's most populous Muslim-majority country.
The unprovoked violence against the Ahmadiyah sect members in Cikeusik, western Java, was one of the most horrific in a long line of attacks on the minority group in Indonesia in recent years.
Ahmadiyah, unlike mainstream Muslims, do not believe Mohammed was the last prophet and are regarded as heretics and blasphemers by conservatives in places like Indonesia and Pakistan.
A secretly filmed video of the attack brought religious violence in Indonesia under the international spotlight, and provoked condemnation from the United States, Italy and international rights groups.
"When the Cikeusik video went viral, people around the world were shocked and appalled by the savagery of the mob kicking and slashing three men to death," Human Rights Watch Deputy Director for Asia Phil Robertson said.
"But instead of charging the defendants with murder and other serious crimes, prosecutors came up with an almost laughable list of 'slap-on-the wrist' charges.
"The Cikeusik trial sends the chilling message that attacks on minorities like the Ahmadiyah will be treated lightly by the legal system. This is a sad day for justice in Indonesia."

Ahmadies believe in Khatam-e-Nabouwat, but Allah has not closed the door to umati nabi. Muslims today are ready to welcome a nabi of fore gone days, the nabi of Christianity as the final savior of the world, but would not consider that Allah's guidance and Our Holy Prophet's teaching is worthy to give a man from his umat the status of Esa-e-Mohamadi??? Disgusting, where justice system is driven by might and ignorant discuss to justify brutal killings as Islamic. Please note what Quran says, if "one person killed innocently, the whole humanity is killed' and here a brutal and disgusting killings and disrespecting the dead bodies is being justified by some. Tanoli is so confused within him/herself that he doesn't know what to say but he is enjoying the so called brutality. How can it be a matter of internal affairs. If you kill your family is it internal affair of your household, actually you know what people like you might say yea it will be so lets put it this way, if yoru family kills you, is it still internal affair? Ahh these people give islam and hazoor pbuh such a bad name, Islam is the most peaceful religion in the world, and hazoor pbuh were the msot peaceful person in the world. and then comes these mullahs who wants to destroy the image of islam and the prophet of islam. Jut to put the facts right...Ahmadies wholeheartedly believe that Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) was the greatest and last prophet with sharia, of Allah. Allah has not though, stopped sending his messengers to the world for the guidance of people and to bring them back to the path of true faith, as such is not His sunnah. Looking around us can we not see that even while claiming to be the custodians of Islam, Muslims are in the front lines of violent, immoral and corrupt amongst the people??? Is it not the time for the Heavenly Hand to move and correct the wrongs??? my personal opinion is that this extremism will engulf all muslim societies, it is like a trend which has to run its course like the european dark ages before islam is reformed and becomes fit for use again.
Our courts could learn something from Indonesia! . Killing Ahmadis should be punished by at least a few days in jail or a symbolic fine. . Killing of Ahmadis by individuals should be discouraged. Only the State has the right to kill somebody through due process.
Crooked Islamic ideology of Maudoodis and Saudis are the real source of this injustices in Muslim world. Apparently saudis have exported their extremist ideology to many Muslims countries which will only bring intolerance and hate towards other human beings.

Great INJUSTICE in the Islamic world to sentence Muslims for another 90 nights in confinement for the murder of humans who are already condemned from them as "wajbul qatal!". In Pakistan such murderers get the title of GHAZI and are the folk heroes of the masses.
It's an unfortunate fact that Muslims don't seem to think that Non Muslims should be treated with the same respect as Muslims -- also apparent that different sects of Muslims don't think the other sects should be treated much (if any) different than Non Muslims. It's a xenophobic flaw that needs to be addressed/fixed.
