#Quarantine: 5 nostalgic films you need to watch this week

Strictly rom-coms and teen classics that you've probably watched back in the day, to escape to better times

Entertainment Desk April 08, 2020
We're all under a lockdown at the moment, and cosy moments are rare, if there at all. In times like these, we're sure you would love a giant hug from a beloved, or a warm blanket from your childhood that makes you want to curl up and smile.

Good news, nostalgic films and TV shows from our youth can totally help if you're down in the dumps thanks to the gloomy state of our world, and so, we've rounded up five films from The Every Girl, strictly rom-coms and teen classics that you've probably watched way back in the day.

Get ready to dive into memory lane and unearth old favourites to escape to better times!

1) The Princess Diaries

Let's face it, this film made us all dream and wish for a hidden grandma to tell us that we're actually a princess. Not to forget the iconic grooming scene that made you wish someone would give you princess classes. Oh, to be Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo of Genovia!

2) Bridget Jones’s Diary

It isn’t an easy feat to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress with a rom-com, and that says all there is to be said about this cult classic starring Renée Zellweger as the titular Bridget Jones. Oh, Bridget’s character is also touted as a British Culture Icon. This one will always be relatable!

3) The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants

This 2005 classic had girls huddling with their friends trying to recreate their own version of magical pants, and you really couldn’t blame them! Starring Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn as the four best friends tied together by one pair of pants they title the ‘travelling pants.’ It will have you aww-ing by the end.

4) Aquamarine

We’re sure there’s a memory somewhere deep inside our minds that we all share - being glued to the TV at some point of our childhood ogling at a mermaid on the screen, and yes, that’s Aquamarine for you. Starring Emma Roberts and Jojo as the two best-friends who befriend Sara Paxton, the titular mermaid Aquamarine, this film is still as enjoyable as it was back in 2006.

5) 10 Things I Hate About You

Easily one of the best from the ‘90s, this Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles rom-com will make you laugh, cry, and even dance, and that’s why we hate the way we don’t hate it, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all (if you know, you know).
