Quarantine container under construction

Quarantine centre would be able to accommodate more people during normal circumstances

QUETTA: A permanent container-based quarantine centre is under construction in Taftan, a town in Chagai district near the Iran border. Talking to The Express Tribune Chagai Communication and Works (C&W) Executive Engineer Faqeer Mohammad Kakar briefed on the details of the project.

“The quarantine centre is established on 11 acres of land and it will have the capacity to accommodate 600 pilgrims following the rules of social distancing issued during the coronavirus pandemic.”

He added that the quarantine centre would be able to accommodate more people during normal circumstances.

Earlier, National Disaster Management Authority has provided the fully equipped residential container to Balochistan government while the construction of other facilities, including roads, sanitation, provision of drinking water and street lights, would be the responsibility of C&W department, said Kakar.

To ensure the quality of project, C&W Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal regularly monitored the construction work, added the XEN.
