Permission for 21 international flights challenged in LHC
Petitioner Nabeel Javed says permission of international flights seems to be unreasonable
LAHORE: The permission to allow 21 international flights was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking the direction to authorities concerned to strictly implement international laws.
Petitioner Nabeel Javed contended, in his petition, that the country was passing through its own critical phase owing to the alarming situation caused by the spread of the coronavirus; so under such circumstances the permission of international flights seems to be unreasonable.
The federal government, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), civil aviation and other departments were made respondents in the petition.
He implored the court that some coronavirus patients were detected in a flight from Toronto to Pakistan while pilot Captain Farrukh Raza and other officers fell victim to the contagion. PIA reportedly ignored the international laws in the flight as a result of which the people fell prey to the fat-spreading disease.
