Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday said the federal government is taking necessary steps to ensure the repatriation of Pakistani citizens stranded in other countries.

The foreign minister, on a sudden visit to the crisis management cell, was briefed on the performance of various sectors of the cell.

Qureshi reviewed complaints received and expressed satisfaction over their performance.

He also reiterated the importance of uniting to overcome the challenges faced by the pandemic.

"We, as a nation, have to overcome this challenge. It is a test for the whole nation," he said.

Repatriating stranded Pakistanis a top priority: FM Qureshi

Last week, the foreign minister maintained that bringing back Pakistanis stranded at airports across the globe is a top priority.

He further added that the foreign ministry established a crisis management cell on an immediate basis, which is in constant contact with Pakistani embassies all over the world and has complete statistics of overseas Pakistanis.

“We have to ensure quarantine and various other medical facilities at airports for the positively tested coronavirus cases,” said the FM.

Qureshi maintained that although healthcare authorities are increasing their efficiency pertaining to testing and quarantine facilities, the number of infections are increasing exponentially.
