Lawyers to support needy colleagues
Sources say collected funds has been distributed among more than 400 lawyers
LAHORE: Lawyers have formed a committee to help members of their community who are unable to earn currently because the courts are only hearing selected cases amid measures taken to protect people from coronavirus.The committee was constituted under the supervision of the Lahore High Court Bar Association president. Senior lawyers Ahsan Bhoon and Azam Nazir Tarar were among its members.
The committee will collect donation from philanthropist lawyers and pay Rs10,000 each to deserving lawyers.
The decision was taken following applications of lawyers who sought help in the prevailing situation where the courts are only hearing cases of urgent nature.
Sources said collected funds had been distributed among more than 400 lawyers. The sources said the practice of a large number of lawyers had been affected.
