RAWALPINDI: Even though work on projects remain suspended due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the Rawalpindi district administration has decided to complete a financial model for the Leh Expressway during the ongoing week.

Besides this, the district administration will also prepare a detailed report on acquiring land for the project during this period.

To review progress on the project, Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood chaired a meeting on Sunday.

He directed the related officials to complete the financial model of the expressway in the week.

Mehmood further directed to devise a report on land acquisition for the expressway, particularly to determine how much land was owned by the state, how much was under private ownership.

It would also highlight the land which may be acquired under right-of-way.

The commissioner further directed officials to finish all targets that could not be met or were delayed due to the situation arising from the lockdown.

However, Mehmood conceded that the lockdown was inevitable but that the country could not sustain it in the long term due to its poor economic condition.
