Transgender people

Letter April 06, 2020
The word isolation is inherent to them

RAWALPINDI: What we are facing nowadays has been faced by some for countless years and in much more difficult circumstances. Those some are the transgender people of our community.

The word isolation is inherent to them. They have been isolated for so long that words like felicity no longer exist in their glossary. They have been neglected, body shamed and frowned upon by us. We are unaware of what it feels like to not have anyone around you, feel for you, pray for you, catch you when you fall and hold your hand in bad times. They have been in isolation for decades and have faced a tremendous amount of problems such as mental torture, social inadequacy and poverty.

Take time and think about someone other than you. Take this time to be selfless and ponder over how these people live their lives. We can’t even bare a few days in isolation and this is the constant condition that transgender people are in. It is up to us to accept them into our society, provide them with jobs and help them earn their livelihood, instead of shaming and harassing them at every corner.
