“The province [Sindh] is looking towards the federation for victory in war against coronavirus. We will defeat it if we unite,” he said in a video message on the death anniversary of PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on Saturday.
Bilawal observed every year several thousand people from across the country turned to Garhi Khuda Bux on April 4 to pay tribute to their leader but today he had come alone to offer prayers due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
The PPP chairperson expressed hope that the federation would help the provinces by dealing everyone equally and providing protective gear to the doctors and ventilators to the patients.
He noted that taking tough decisions was the need of the hour to save the lives of people.
Appreciating the role of philanthropists, Bilawal said “I am grateful to those Pakistanis who are playing their part for providing relief during current ordeal”.
He assured the people that the Sindh government was making all-out efforts to provide relief to the poor in these testing times.
“The provincial government is providing ration to the people with the cooperation of welfare organisations and distributed Zakat money among the needy,” he said.
“The Sindh government would ensure that no institution makes anyone unemployed in this crisis and all institutions pay full salaries to their staff,” he added.
The PPP chairperson urged the people to stay at home and maintain social distancing in order to protect themselves from the deadly epidemic.
Bilawal called for lessening the burden on the medical staff fighting on the front line against the coronavirus and insisted that it was only possible when the people followed the directives of the government.
“If you are able to help someone then you must play your part,” he said.
“I hope we will get through this difficult time with the help of all of you,” he added.
