Gynaecologists contract COVID-19 in Hyderabad

Both doctors contracted the disease through local transmissions

HYDERABAD: Two gynaecologists at the Liaquat University Hospital in Hyderabad tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday, amid concerns about doctors being infected by the virus in the absence of adequate protective gear.

Both of the doctors contracted the disease through local transmission. One is a relative of another patient who had tested positive in March after returning from the United Kingdom.

A health official stated that both the doctors had been quarantined and would be re-tested to confirm the results.
