KARACHI: Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab paid tribute as a citizen on Friday to doctors, paramedics and police, Rangers and army personnel for their efforts to save people's lives while risking their own.

Attending a small ceremony organised by law enforcement agencies at Teen Talwar, he maintained that it was possible to beat the pandemic in the next 14 days if citizens cooperated with the Sindh government.

He said that the provincial government had ordered more PPE kits from the United Kingdom with the help of Indus Hospital, adding that the Centre was also assisting in this regard. The kits are to be received by Saturday (today).

He further revealed that the government had begun the disbursement of Rs6,000 per family to around 94,000 citizens, who had been registered for Zakat.

Wahab also expressed gratitude to NGOs for distributing rations to deserving families, adding that the government would distribute these essential food items door-to-door in collaboration with various welfare organisations.
