Indian journalism

The Indian media does not miss any opportunity to malign Pakistan.

SINDH: The Indian media does not miss any opportunity to malign Pakistan. Indian news channels are always spewing venom against Pakistan and the army, so much so that it has become a trend for getting ratings. For any act of violence that occurs in India, the Indian media starts accusing Pakistan without even having concrete evidence. For instance, in the aftermath of a terror attack that took place in Pulwama, Indian news channels began broadcasting the news that the ISI, Pakistan’s leading intelligence agency, orchestrated the attack. Whenever any chaos erupts in India, they accuse Pakistan in order to divert attention from reality rather than acknowledging the incompetence and the negligence of the Modi regime. The Indian media’s usual resorting to anti-Pakistan rhetoric is never going to put things in order. The tilt of the BJP government towards extremism can be judged from the fact that even if someone mildly criticises its policies, he or she is immediately projected as anti-state and a friend of Pakistan. Qatari news channel Al Jazeera made a documentary about the kind of fake and fictitious news the Indian media propagates and exposed their journalistic ethics. The Indian media is no longer impartial. Their print and digital media is running at the behest of the BJP’s extremist regime. Biased journalism in Indian has attracted ignominy from various parts of the world. They must learn lessons to get rid of their ludicrous attitude and prefer transparency and professionalism in journalism. Only then will they understand the deeper purpose of journalism. Facts are half the truth therefore changing the facts means distorting the truth. The people are not blind. Many can see right through fake news and propagandist schemes. It is important for the Indian citizens to call out the affairs of journalists so that the sacred profession still holds it value.
