Need for kindness

Letter April 02, 2020
We have to prove ourselves as a kindhearted nation

ISLAMABAD: At a time when the whole world is fighting the pandemic, people are forced to stay at home to be safe. This is affecting the economic status of the whole world, but the under-developed and developing countries like Pakistan, where 29.5% of the population is already living below the poverty line, are highly vulnerable to a severe economic crisis. We cannot deny the fact that it is comparatively less difficult for those from the upper class to self-isolate, even for more than two months, but a daily wager cannot afford to confine himself to his house as he has to strive hard to meet the needs of his family, on a daily basis. God loves small acts of kindness; it is a period that demands our full faith, so we have to prove ourselves as a kindhearted nation. While gathering food items for our quarantine, we should not forget the needy around us. Remember, while seeking the mercy and forgiveness of God we have to come up as a charitable nation. Stay home, stay safe and be sympathetic and gracious towards others.
