I urge the authorities to provide every one with a kit of mask and hand sanitiser free-of-cost

KARACHI: I sincerely laud the efforts of the Prime Minister who has undertaken to tackle the threat of coronavirus in the country. There is no cure for Covid-19 but the survival rate is 98%. The elderly are more at risk. The only way to stop the spread of the epidemic is to maintain social distancing and stay at home. After a deep study and referring to various medical journals, I have concluded that the most effective way to protect from coronavirus is the use of masks and hand sanitisers.

People from countries like South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, which enforced the use of face masks, had reduced cases of coronavirus soon after.

The provision of protective kit would cost much less and involve minimum hassle for the authorities as compared to going for a lockdown and seeking ways to feed millions. The step would not only enable people to carry out their jobs but also ensure their well-being and safety.

I urge the authorities to provide every one with a kit of mask and hand sanitiser free-of-cost and make it mandatory for all individuals to meet the requirement while appearing in public. The services of welfare organisations may be utilised for the purpose and the supply of equipment be assured till the threat of virus looms.
